Conversation as a Platform
Role: UX designer @Microsoft
Conversation as a Platform (CaaP) is a new emerging platform which takes the power of human language and applies it more pervasively to all of our computing. A conversational model encourages searchers to clarify or refine their queries when the search engine fails to understand them. Moreover, it offers searchers the opportunity to evolve their own intent based on the results the search engine returns to them.
At the earlier stages of CaaP, Microsoft took a more literal approaches with multiple chatbot products on various platform but soon realised that having multiple chatbots on the same product dysfunctions the product. This is where project metis started but also soon ran into an UX problem where navigating between layers of data is too confusing for end users. For that reason, Metis V2 got started.
